In an area where over 70 mountain peaks go above the 1,000 metre line, winter is a great season for outdoor activities.
Get on your snowboard or cross-country skis, or explore the area in snowshoes or hiking boots: The Black Forest is an ideal place for physical exercise or simply enjoying the white splendour, crisp air and beautiful views. In snowy winters, holiday-makers can expect to find some 1,600 kilometres of well-prepared and sign-posted cross-country skiing trails. Downhill skiers can choose from over 200 lifts and about 250 prepared slopes.
