The Center for Art and Media has gained wide-spread attention within the European art community: The nearby City Art Gallery is situated inside an enormous hall with ten atriums and exhibits important works by renowned artists including Hans Thoma and Markus Lüpertz. The building also houses the Museum of Modern Art featuring about 1,100 works by contemporary artists.
